BANISHED

I saw the movie "Banished" at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival back in April. It's a very provocative exploration of the issue of reparation for African Americans and well worth seeing. It also gives some little-known history of towns and counties in the South where all the African American families were driven from their land in the early part of the 20th century; in many of those places, there are still few or no African Americans, and the generational impact of the ethnic cleansing is still felt today. If you live in Portland, the film is playing at the Northwest Film Center on Thursday. It's worth checking out!
